Q: Can you tell us about your educational background and how you got into recruitment?
A: I’m a first-class Psychology graduate from the University of Sussex. I got into recruitment because one of my good friends was already in the life sciences recruitment space, and he introduced me to the idea. I’ve always been determined and hard-working, and I wanted to challenge myself with something new. So, I threw myself into recruitment, worked super hard, and I’m still learning new things along the way.
Q: What was your career path like before recruitment?
A: My career path has been quite varied. After college, I worked in administration at a law firm and eventually became a junior paralegal, assisting the legal team. I considered pursuing a career law, but I decided it was time to go traveling. After that, I worked for a bit before deciding to pursue something related to my degree in Psychology.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time, and how does that influence your work?
A: I love staying fit in my spare time! I do weight training and yoga, which keeps me disciplined and focused. The consistency and drive I apply to fitness carry over into my work life. When I set a goal at work, I put everything into achieving it.
Q: What is your current role in recruitment, and what does it involve?
A: Currently, I’m a consultant on the Market Research and Consulting team, focusing mainly on the US market. My role involves identifying talent for market research agencies, but recently, I’ve branched into other regions like APAC and MENA. I stay motivated by keeping multiple processes going because the more I have in motion, the more likely something will come to fruition. I’m also constantly looking to win new business and connect with exciting new companies and individuals.
Q: Can you share a proud moment from your career so far?
A: I’m really proud of my first six months in recruitment. I exceeded my initial target and got promoted quickly. My success is largely due to the collaborative team I work with. James, my manager, has really pushed me to excel in my career. The culture at Albion is very supportive, and the cross-functional teamwork has been key to our success.
Q: What are your future goals in recruitment?
A: Looking ahead, I hope to continue achieving as I am now. I’ve already qualified for the holiday incentive, which is really exciting and makes all the hard work feel even more worthwhile.
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to get into recruitment?
A: If you’re thinking about getting into recruitment, all you need is a strong and positive mindset and the drive to work hard every day. It’s simple – what you put in is what you get out!
