Associate Medical Writer

London/Hybrid

£30,000 – £32,000

 

My client, an industry-leading, independent, full service, ‘boutique’ medical communications agency is seeking an ambitious entry level medical writer to join their friendly supportive team on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a level role, working with more experienced writers to assist with editorial tasks across a range of editorial deliverables. Designated tasks may include scientific fact checking, reference marking-up, slide templating, PowerPoint redraws, and copyright permissions. With experience, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate competency in core editorial skills and an aptitude for increasingly challenging takes, with a view to progressing into a Medical Writer role so plenty of opportunities to progress within the agency.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a solid scientific understanding, a high level of accuracy and an aptitude for writing
  • Able to complete tasks in an increasingly efficient manner, transferring new skills and relevant feedback to subsequent projects
  • Supports development, formatting and editing of slides
  • Fact-checks materials, marks-up references and highlights potential discrepancies
  • Conducts supportive administrative tasks, for client review systems such as ZINC and VOLT
  • Develops simple scientific written materials and takes in client comments
  • Identifies source materials through literature and other searches, and summarises findings
  • Works with the highest attention to detail at all times
  • Builds strong working relationships with colleagues through considered, timely and professional communications
  • Has no budget input but is aware allocated hours and can work efficiently to deliver tasks to budget
  • Is able to organise own workload effectively and meet all deadlines, with guidance for prioritisation from more senior writers
  • Recognises the need to adhere to compliance guidelines, understands relevant compliance guidelines and applies accordingly

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • PhD is essential
  • A sound scientific understanding and aptitude for medical writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
