Job Description

Role: Laboratory Technician – Biomaterials Testing (Medical Devices)

Location: Oberdorf, Switzerland

 

Overview:

Albion Rye proudly supports a global leader in medical devices and MedTech innovation. We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician focused on contributing to biomaterials testing. We’re seeking an individual comfortable working in controlled laboratory settings, with a background in Chemistry, Biomaterials, Materials, or related fields.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Graduate with experience of working within a laboratory who wants to start their career within the world of MedTech!

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct Testing Activities: Perform various tests on biomaterials including Dye Leak, Seal Strength, Residual Humidity, Polymer Viscosity, and 4-Point Bending tests on absorbable Plates, adhering to specific standards (ASTM, ISO, DIN).

 

  • Quality Control: Ensure accurate testing procedures are followed, reporting any deviations promptly while maintaining compliance with relevant standards.

 

  • Instrument Operation: Utilize lab equipment, troubleshoot issues, and conduct routine maintenance for seamless testing operations.

 

  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of test procedures, results, and other pertinent information. Create comprehensive test reports.

 

  • Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, offering support and input to ongoing projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biomaterials, Materials, or related field. Alternatively, completion of an Apprenticeship (Lehre) in a relevant area.

 

  • Experience: Prior experience in a controlled chemistry, biochemistry, or biology lab is preferred. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

 

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in German/Swiss German is essential. Basic English proficiency is required.

 

  • Adaptability: Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced lab environment, demonstrating high motivation.

 

  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively within a team.

 

  • IT Skills: Proficient in IT, including familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

 

  • Location: Must be available to work in Oberdorf four days a week.
